“Taste of Yaletown” is an annual event that solicits diners to visit the area for an amazing meal at an even more amazing price. This is a great option for those who would like to try some of the neighbourhood’s fine restaurants without breaking the bank. Or for those who need that extra excuse to go out for date night.
This is the event’s 13th year, running between October 11 to the 27, 2017. And this year you can choose from 26 different restaurants bringing you three courses for a set price of either $25, $35, or $45. There is even one at $14 and another at $15. Each menu gives you the option to choose between two to three different appetizers, entrees, and desserts options; so if you bring a friend or two, you get the chance to try everything. Although at these prices you can just stop by and try the entire taste of Yaletown menu from your favourite restaurant.
The two week dining event is brought to you by the “Yaletown Business Improvement Association”, who are not only dedicated to supporting businesses in the neighbourhood, but they are also committed to giving back to the community. And for the 13th year in a row, Yaletown will be making another substantial donation to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. Thus far “Taste of Yaletown” has raised over $115,000 in efforts to support the local community since the event began in 2004.
Today myself and a handful of food bloggers and influencers were gathered together to try a couple of the menus, from the below participating restaurants. We were sectioned off into groups and led on a walking tour of the area.
As always, when it comes to a media tasting: plating and portion size may be gussied up and/or paired down, and the service will usually be top notch. Though I can at least paint you the most accurate image when it comes to the food and the setting, as how I interpret it. But as always, these are my opinions and you need not take them as fact. Unless you have my exact background, have lived my exact experiences, and we possess the same tongue; no one can truly taste and appreciate as you do.
I will only be covering the menus that I tasted in separate blog posts. The links to them are below, as well as a full list of all the restaurants that you can visit for these specials.
