When looking to celebrate and share a meal with my gym friends after Lift Club I looked to Yummy Pizza in New Westminster. I was in the neighbourhood and find their pizzas quick to order, make, and bake. Not to mention they come in an XL size and are often on special. Currently $22 for 3 toppings made to order or $13.99 for eight slices that make up a full XL pizza. For the latter, the only hitch is that you have to Frankenstein it together by picking out what is already baked and available from behind the glass showcase. They do heat it up for you so that you can have it hot and fresher.
I find the latter ideal for those like me. Those whose eyes are bigger than their stomachs, and often struggle to make a decision on the spot. This way I get to try and have 5 pizzas in one, with doubles of my favourite.
The New Westminster location is open later until 4am, with student deals, groups specials, and the ability to order through your favourite delivery apps. They also pride themselves in having halal chicken and plant-based and gluten-free options for all dietary needs.
I ended up getting a Deluxe with Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Pepperoni, Green Peppers, Red Onions, Sausage, and Mushrooms as a safe bet. And my favourite, a Hawaiian with Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Ham, and Pineapple. Everyone ate it all up gleefully and were happy to have the treat, so I seemed the effort a success.
In actuality I didn’t get to have more than two slices that day so decided to return to Yummy Slice for more pizza the following weekend. This time I visited their Hastings location and went for the build your own XL pizza for $13.99.
I arrived just in time to be able to take advantage of a fresh pie coming out of the oven. I am not a fan of chicken pizzas or ones with a cream base, so stuck to the following more familiar slices like more Hawaiian.
Pepperoni with Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, and Pepperoni was a classic.
I thought the Creamy Beef fairly different with Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Beef, Cheddar, and Creamy Garlic Sauce drizzled over top.
For even more meat, the Yummy Meat was extra zesty with Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Ham, Pepperoni, Bacon, Beef, and Sausage.
I loved the spice of the Yummy Veggies with Creamy Garlic Sauce, Mozzarella, Ginger, Cilantro, Jalapeno, Tomatoes, Green Peppers, Mushrooms, and Red Onions. There was so much going on here that I did not miss not having meat with it.
In short this was a great deal and I had enough pizza to serve me all throughout the weekend.
