Sadly this was a shorter week with the 2027 Kia EV5 GT-Line. Especially as this is an highly anticipated, all-electric compact crossover, exclusive to Canada within the North American market.
Coming out of a small and low to the ground sports car last week, this drive felt like a dream. I couldn’t help but compare the two. Where the engine really worked for the Miata the week before, now I didn’t feel the same “struggle”. The fully electric vehicle was smooth like a carpet ride, it practically glided.
I didn’t have to fear how I entered or exited the car, after pulling a muscle the previous week. It wasn’t low to the ground, but set at a very comfortable hip level.
I also loved all the electronic adjustments, and the spaciousness of the cabin that gave me so much sprawling room. The seat was also adequately wide with lumbar. All the seats front and back had ventilated heating, along with the driving wheel. The front also came with the ability to cool.

I think it’s silly if electric cars aren’t automatically on Eco, so was happy that the EV5 GT-Line took that into consideration. After all that is why you’re driving a fully electric vehicle, if not to conserve fuel and save on gas at the pumps. As for battery life this it comes with the larger 81.4 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery.
It takes its design inspiration from its larger sibling, the three-row EV9. You get the same bold and boxy aesthetic for this mini version, but with two-rows and 5 seats.
The GT-Line trim focuses heavily on a sporty appearance with styled front and rear bumpers, striking gloss black accents, a distinctive straight front LED light bar, and geometric 19-inch GT-Line alloy wheels.
It has a large widescreen layout stretching nearly 30 inches across the dashboard with dual 12.3-inch displays. It features standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, tri-zone automatic climate control, and interior/exterior Vehicle-to-Load capabilities to plug in household appliances.
