Emilio Finatti Pizzeria: pizza party

We were celebrating the last bout of summer and one last chance to dip into the pool. So decided to order pizzas and make it a girl’s night of it.

Taking into consideration that bikinis were involved I thought it might be prudent to find a lighter and leaner pizza option. Not fast food and greasy from a chain; but a pizza purveyor with local roots, serving their community with healthy, natural ingredients and a quality product. That had me looking to Emilio’s. With four locations, we sought out the Port Moody one for delivery to Coquitlam.

With over 40 creative pizza flavours to choose from we each picked our own, to share with everyone else. Each one is handcrafted and includes their signature thin crust and popular honey butter drizzle for an extra pump of sweet to contrast the savoury.

I am a big advocate of pineapple on pizza so their Hot Hawaiian needed no decision making. Spicy Marinara, Cheese, Hot Capicola, Red Onion, Hot Banana Pepper, and Pineapple. I added on olives because I like the mix of salty and sweet, with my after-burn of heat.

The Godfather was a popular one amongst the group for its variety of toppings. Savoury, sweet, spicy, salty and bitter; this one hit all the taste buds and textural combinations. Marinara, Cheese, Hot Capicola, Hot Calabrese, Red Onion, Roasted Garlic, Black Olive, Pineapple, Basil, Arugula, and Parmesan.

Tasty on its own, but with their own collection of house made dips in garlic ranch, bbq ranch, and spicy ranch, it is worth indulging in. It also adds longevity to each bite and additional interest to the crust.

Looking for something more simple and classic we went with the Queen Margherita with Olive Oil, Crushed Garlic, Cheese, Basil, Tomato, Basil, and Parmesan. Then to it added-on shrimp for some protein and additional chew.

A popular one amongst vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike is the Funghi, which was heavy on the earthy mushroom with globs of cream. Olive Oil, Crushed Garlic, Cheese, Sautéed Roasted Mushroom, Caramelized Onion, Mushroom, Roasted Red Pepper, Basil, and Goat Cheese. The goat cheese and red pepper gave this more character and made it a stand out amongst other mushroom pizzas.

In conclusion, the pizzas were a hit. The girls love each one. We were happy to have them warm fresh before our dip in the pool; then to revisit them again, later in the night, after our activities, cooled at room temperature. There was plenty for thirds and fourths, with enough for doggy bagging. This was a successful pizza party thanks to Emilio.
