Big Mama’s & Papa’s Pizzeria

I love it when food is larger than life and my appetite!

I was all giddy to discover that there is a pizza spot in Vancouver where you can get a slice almost as tall as you, or a whole pizza that is so large that it requires two to carry.

This is Big Papa & Mama’s Pizzeria and their name speaks to what they have in store. They offer regular pizzas with classic toppings, but we had our eyes on the big ones! Specifically “The Big Papa Slice”s, with your choice of toppings. This serves 5-7 to individual. As the novelty is in the fact that it is a whole slice, it comes with a souvenir pizza cutter for you to hack it down to size, as needed. Although I did try to eat it as a giant slice and found it too heavy to hold, let alone consume as is.

If you don’t feel like paying $99 for this slice? Then you can win your pizza by entering one of their many eating challenges. It requires you to register online and comes with a cash prize, should you win.

The 28” Big Mama Challenge gives you 1 hour to finish everything in order to win $100 cash prize. You can also eat more with a friend for a greater prize. The 36” Big Papa also gives two people 1 hour to finish and a chance to win $200 in cash to share.

If you want even more company you can also take on the Giant Sicilian Pizza Challenge. A 54” cut into 200 slices that normally feed 50-70 people, but for 8 people to endeavour. Not up for the challenge, but looking to impress at your next party or potluck, then you can simply purchase this beast for $349.99 for just the sauce, and $18.99 additional for any topping you want to add. It takes two people to carry it, one table to hold it, and as many mouths as you can call on to help finish it.

As for the pizza, we had my preference for Hawaiian with pineapple and ham. This is the kind of pizza I want when I crave something slightly greasy. It satisfied with bold flavour and the ability to shake on Parmesan and chili flakes, if you are dining in, like we were.

And not just pizzas, they have other items on menu like fries, wings, garlic bread, and mozzarella sticks. Unexpectedly good are their chicken tenders, and ones worth trying if you have the room to do so. Crispy and juicy I am craving a plate now just writing about this. Best with a garlic ranch dipping sauce, because they don’t have my preferred honey mustard.

In conclusion, this isn’t necessary my go-to for everyday eating, but one for a guaranteed good time.
