This last week we were sporting the 2026 Kia K4 GT-Line Hatchback. Admittedly, I am not a fan of hatchbacks, as I find the back less attractive flattened, and I prefer curves and junk in a truck, figuratively speaking.
However, there was something about the black on black trim and the red and black letter interior that spoke to me. But maybe it also had to do with having such a stylish looking sports car as my daily driver during this, my birthday week.
The reddish brown burgundy leather against the black matte carried a certain air of refinement and I was proud to be spotted in such a trendy vehicle.
The door handles were like latches, very industrial looking. It was new to me and to see the seat and wheel heating and cooling button right above the driver side door handle. Under it, large Harman Kardon speakers, with sound quality that travels.
To enter the backseat, it is a discreet handle built into the triangular window panel. Painted black to blend in.
Not carbon fibre, but the plastic that accented the dash had a nice cross hatch pattern. This decorative trim added a lovely accent and flowed in-line with the air-conditioning vents. They ran a unified line, reminding me of a racing stripe.
I liked the spacious cupholders that felt very hefty. They matched the bulky gearshift that ran the width of my palm with its flat top. It was a little chunky and clunky in my smaller female hand, but I definitely felt the gusto pulling it back to start.
As for the way the 2026 Kia K4 handled, it was nibble and agile, easy to navigate and sporty, even out of sports mode. There was plenty of power on every turn and responsive breaks that easily slowed with any amount of pressure.
Small detail, but It did throw me off, was that the overhead camera showed the vehicle as a white SUV on the monitor screen, when clearly I was driving a black sports sedan.
