2025 Mazda CX30 GT Turbo

This week I was sporting the 2025 Mazda CX30 Sport (intentional pun). Last week I couldn’t feel the difference between eco and sport mode, so this week well made up for it with the ability to toggle into sport with more power than I knew what to do with.

With a sleek body design and a lowered stance, there was no hiding the speed and power of the CX30. The efficacy of the appearance flowed into the handling, the way the vehicle hugged curves and the sound of the motor rumbling with effort. Bad over speed bumps or pot holes, but that is to be expected.

I expected a bucket seat to further the sporty mature. However, the seat was wider and there was more cushion for support, so no complaints here. This was luxury comfort with firm lower back lumbar and supple leather to match the rest of the cabin.

The centre arm rest was narrow, and even with the ability to slide it forward I found it lacking. This was a similar feeling to its shallow and small inner binning.

I enjoyed the individual climate control knobs that have a satisfying click when you rotate them. In contrast to the rest of the flat touch screen buttons with no push back.

With most most vehicles having abrasive proximity detectors, I found it odd to go without the incessant beeps to let me know that my sides and/or corners were too close to anything. The CX30 kept calm with steady alarms only fairly close to the sensor.

A caution is to keep your foot firmly against break in order to come to a full stop and to continue to be fully stopped. Periodically, and continuously throughout the week, I found myself rolling each time I let up on the pressure unknowingly. A dangerous act as I allowed my mind to wander out the window and grew too close for comfort to the vehicle in-front of me.

Last week I also complained about not being able to hear the car alarm when activated, but this week the second button push to lock was too loud, making me jump and flinching for the sake of my eardrums each time.

Nonetheless what I enjoyed most about the CX30 GT Turbo was the drive, how intuitive the vehicle was and how graceful it took to the road. Truly an enjoyable ride on any commute.
