Today we were at Hyatt Regency’s 34th floor conference room, over looking the heart of downtown Vancouver’s financial district. A fantastic backdrop for this Italian Wine Trade Tasting, showcasing some of the best wines awarded the Tre Bicchieri rating, as listed in the 2025 edition of Vini d’Italia guidebook.
This guidebook features more than just reviews of Italy’s finest wines, Vini d’Italia covers the brilliant wine passionate individuals who devote their lives to winemaking. Today, 53+ experts comprise the team that blind-taste 45,000+ wines annually. Written in Italian, the English-language edition of the guide was available for a $20 cash purchase at the event.
As trade and press we were invited to sample Italy’s top-awarded wines, titled Italy’s “best of the best”. Tasting some of this year’s best vintages and the latest releases ‘en primeur’ from all over the country. This was an event curated to showcase the uniqueness of Italy’s biodiversity in wine production, with the ability to chat with winery principals.
There were 25+ Italian wineries in attendance, with 120+ Tre Bicchieri rated top Italian wines. All hosted by the Consulate General of Italy Vancouver in collaboration with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada West.
With so many booths and bottles to sort through tasting was a jovial affair. Guests had the ability to go at their own pace. We went strategically, starting with sparkling, followed by white, and finally red and Lambrusco. The bottles pictured were once we took note of.
All of which we coupled with light appetizers the likes of charcuterie and cheese.
