Cadillac Fairview’s Stress Free Lunch

And they say there is no such thing as a free lunch?

Well with Cadillac Fairview there is. Did you know that this real estate developer is more than just development properties and mall management? They also do a fair bit of behind the scenes community work, a lot of which utilizes their space for the betterment and enjoyment of those who work, play, and live around them. For instance, during the recent Olympic Games, they set up televised watching stations for like-minded individuals to come together in camaraderie. And this fall season they are ready to showcase more of their in-community with their “stress free lunch” initiative.

Did you know that September is reportedly the most stressful month of the year? For most it is a return to “normal life”, where summer vacation and break time is over, and kids are returning to school, and families their routines. For others it is the onset of the new season which leads to shorter days, darker nights, colder mornings, and the potential of seasonal depression.

Therefore, in order to add a little joy and levity into our lives, Cadillac Fairview is looking to treat those living in, working around, and just happen to be in downtown Vancouver from 12 to 2pm every Wednesday of September 2024.

Where those who make it to the Southside of the art gallery, Robson Square, will be greeted with a collection of food trucks that will be offering free meals. Five specific food trucks handpicked by the Cadillac Fairview team for you to try at no cost. It is first come first serve, and Show runners do expect lines, given how popular the first week went (I was there in person and can concur). 200 to 250 meals will be passed out from each of the five trucks. As a whole, the event is prepared to serve over 1000 individuals during this lunching hour.

Food trucks include a burger option, Asian fusion, Thai, Korean, and the classic hot dog. You are allowed to pick from any of their regular menus with a maximum of $25 spending. The cost is completely be covered by Cadillac Fairview, including payments to the staff and the teams manning these trucks.

I got a taste of Rao Burger’s spicy chicken burger, as a food truck I have never visited before, with their Indian spiced fast food that I have never tried. I thought this was a great choice? consider it was free and I have nothing to lose in trying them.

Sauzzy Thai is a great option for a more fulsome meal of protein topped salads, noodles, and curry over rice. And best of all it is all served exactly like how it would be if you visited any other time. This isn’t a special menu offering or less food than normal.

Mo’s Hot Dogs is a safe bet for a classic smokie sausage that you can dress your way, in bun.

I am already familiar with the Eat! Chicken truck as my go-to lunch or dinner when I worked in the area. I really enjoy their green onion pancake burrito with chicken and hoisin sauce dressing.

The Disco Cheetah Korean fusion truck is also participating in this, but was not available during the first week’s launch; but they will be for the next!

The goal is to provide a little joy in the lives of the community they work in, in this case those working in and around and shopping in and around Pacific Centre mall. They hope that this will encourage the community to come out take a break, socialize, and just distress a little, if not for a couple of hours.

This is such a sweet initiative that expects nothing in return. One that I am happy to be able to be a part of and to report on.

Those in line will also be given a Pacific Centre giftcard with varying denominations from $10-$25, with the idea that they can be used for a future free meal at the mall’s food court. Plus a chance to enter to win a draw for a $1000 Pacific Centre giftcard, for even more meals!

There will also be an Instagram draw for a $200 Pacific Centre giftcard giveaway that yours truly, will be hosting. This is in partnership with Cadillac Fairview. Normally I don’t offer promo codes or do giveaways as to not appear bias in what I report on, or to dilute my truth. However, this is basically me helping you get free money and everyone can use a generic giftcard for any of the number of available stores in downtown Vancouver’s Pacific Centre!
