Pacific Yacht Caters, open house 2022

Every winter season Pacific Yacht Caters docks at Vancouver’s Coal Harbour and opens its doors to the public. Not only does the showing allow guests to see the craft as a destination for celebrations and as a viable event space for future occasions, but they also do this to help support families in need. They do this by collecting unwrapped toy donations under their decorated cabin tree. This is a toy drive that gets distributed to Pan Pacific Hotel’s huge Christmas Wish Breakfast collection event in support of the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau on December 14th.

During the allotted open house hours guests are able to sample from the galley’s 5-star menu while enjoying festive music, and the camaraderie of old and new friends. The following is some of the more picturesque points on the water craft and the dishes were were able to enjoy within.

At the bottom deck guests were welcomed to a collection of rosemary herbed short bread cookies dipped in chocolate or topped with peppermint. They were the perfect accompaniment to the self serve hot chocolate bar. Although there were no options to have them spiked, I asked.

After a quick ascend on the spiralled staircase you reach the second floor and the yacht’s bar. There, they were pouring sparkling, red, or white wine by the glass. And/or you could choose from an assortment of canned beers, coolers, and ciders. I preferred the sparkling the most.

For food Pacific Yacht Charter’s culinary team was serving an abbreviated Christmas dinner with carved to order whole turkey and ham roast. As guests joined the queue, they had their choice of light or dark meat, plus all the fixings like stuffing, seeded buns, and cranberry jelly and its variations.

All of which ate like the holidays, especially when I got my hands on the wish bone and lost at the pull.

For those who ventured up to the top deck, they were treated to a view of the still waters of the Fraser River and a great photo op.

In summary, i have been to a few Christmas functions as of late, and as far as large capacity event spaces go, this one is at the top of my list. An original setting that will have many swivelling their heads in exciting and talking about the function for days to come. Who doesn’t want to say they partied on a yacht?
