This Saturday, my favourite fast food pizza chain is opening a new location on Kingsway, in East Vancouver. Out of all the quick to order and take out & delivery, North American style pizza brands, Papa John’s is my favourite for their cheese and garlic stuffed crusts alone. When I want a dense and satisfying pizza I look to them.
When it comes to pizza I am big on the crust and I like one that is bouncy like fresh bread and dressed to be eaten and enjoyed as is. And Papa Johns meets both of those measures. Not to mention they are a Canadian company and their dough is prepared fresh daily in BC, and topped with real Canadian cheese.
Each individual location is a franchise that is locally owned and operated, and each pizza is hand-stretched and built to order. Their signature sauce is made from vine-ripened tomatoes and none of their toppings rely on artificial colours or flavours. And this choice of using better ingredients does make a noticeable difference. If walking in to takeout, their pizza making process takes about 15 minutes after ordering.
So today, when wanting to celebrate the work week past with a casual Friday pizza party, I looked to Papa Johns. This would be a good way to showcase them to those in the office who have never tried, and for those who may be on the fence about them.
And if you need a reason to check them out for yourself? On Saturday March 7th and Sunday March 8th, Papa John’s at 808 Kingsway is celebrating their grand opening with a handful of giveaways and discounts.
Starting right when they open at 11am, the first 25 customers in line on both Saturday and Sunday will get a free cheese or pepperoni pizza. Then the next 25-50 after them will get a free slice until 4pm or until supplies last.
If you miss out on the free you can still celebrate with a Create Your Own carry-out pizza, with up to 5 toppings for only $10. This too is available on both days of the weekend long event by using the code “KINGSWAY10”.
While there, you can also enter to win free pizza for a year, or one of their hourly prize draws. And best of all, $1 from every pizza sold during the grand opening week will be donated to the BC SPCA.
