Singletree Winery

Our latest staycation in Abbotsford included a visit to Singletree Winery. Normally closed on a Tuesday, the owner was kind enough to host us for a quickie tasting and a look at the upgrades made to their property anyways. (We were in town on Monday and Tuesday, and they live on property).

Family owned and operated, this vineyard is located in Abbotsford, British Columbia; and the following is what sets them apart from all the other Fraser Valley winery options.

The name “Singletree” was inspired by the single-harness yoke which was an essential tool for pioneering famers from all over the province (As taken from their website). Their goal is showcasing the best of British Columbia by creating aromatic, crisp, and juicy wines that highlight the Fraser Valley terroir.

The best way to get acquainted with their wines is through one of their tastings. One of their staff members walks you through a collection of their varietals. As you swirl, sniff, and sip your way from white to red. They are also more than happy to make tasting suggestions on the 5 you get to sample. I like doing this as a way to try before you buy.

And what better way to enjoy a freshly purchased bottle, than in their open event area. Picnic tables, beach chairs, and plenty of sprawling room. Grab a glass of their award winning wines, and take your time finishing it on their property. The space is also available for private bookings from weddings to corporate event; birthday parties to a unique date night options.

Charcuterie and small snacks are also available for purchase. Or you can even bring your own, just so long as you also purchase a bottle of Singletree wine to accompany it. They have also just recently upgraded their liquor license for their patio area, and are now hosting local talent via “Wine Down Fridays”. Here, on select dates, live music accompanies locally smoked meats, cheeses, and other seasonal selections. Pre-ordering is recommended. The next Wine Down Friday is on July 22nd and is in collaboration with SPCA. Singletree will be hosting a silent and live auction to raise funds for the shelter. Although the property’s show stopper, and what have gotten them the most buzz are the two new domes that they have added to their outdoor seating options. They are closed for the season, due to them being made of plastic and you are zipped into it. A little too hot for summer, but cozy with blankets and heaters for fall and winter.

They are done in two different themes. One is Canadiana with Buffalo check, fleece, and vintage pieces in red and white.

The other an icy wonderland in a white and grey tone with sparkling gems, snowflakes, and plenty of faux fur.

They seat up to 6 comfortably. For more on the domes and how to reserve one in the future, check out the link below.
