Aria, Italy is in the Air

Opening night of Italian Fashion Week

Tonight we were celebrating the launch of Italian Design week hosted at Brian Jessel BMW on Broadway.

This is the fifth year for this annual, signature event held by the Italian chamber of commerce. A week of celebrating Italian craftsmanship, innovation, and style in fashion, jewelry, and automotive in Vancouver. This year the theme is “Aria, Italy is in the air”.

The night featured a taste of Italy through drink and food. Free flowing glasses of red and white wine during the reception.

And Aperol spritz and negroni at cost, with an ever flowing negroni fountain as an attraction.

Small bites were gathered on a platter consisting of a zucchini tart, a salmon mousse stuffed cream puff, prosciutto wrapped honey dew, and a tomato sauce and cheese pizza square.

For dessert Antise Vancouver were sampling their amazing panettone. Fluffy and soft, fresh pieces of sweet bread with dried fruit.

Caffè Umbria, artisan coffee roaster offered espresso shots as an end of day pick me up.

When time, guests were invited to take an acrylic seat and/or gather around the catwalk and main stage.

After a warm thanks to attendees and sponsors, plus an invitation to attend the remainder of the upcoming events, the show began with an unveiling. A sheet was removed from over the new 2024 BMW 5 series and fully electric i5 M60 model, which we would get a closer look at after the show.

Sadly without taking it off the lot, I would not be able to review much of either vehicles. But can say that the crystal gear shift and dial were incredible bespoke elements. A treat for the eyes and the sensations when you twist and swipe.

Continuing with the fashion show, it was a collection of featured, local fashion designers and a capsule of their artistic creations walking the runaway. Each with an inspiration or accompanying phrase to focus on as the models walk. There were many flowy pieces to parallel the theme of air and lightness.

And all the items on the runway were available for purchasing. The fashion show a walking catalog, with all the fashion and jewelry on display.

The night ended with the opportunity to mingle with renowned designers, industry professionals, and design and fashion enthusiasts.
