I love conventions, anything that gathers like minded people together to celebrate their passion is a good time, and MeowFest is no exception. The first of its kind in Vancouver, this is a expo showcasing products, labels, and brands all related to cats. A cute kitty cat convention that anyone and everyone can enjoy.
Today we were given a sneak peek of what we can expect at their media preview. A small scale teaser with cat treats and kitty samples to get you curious of what’s to come at the actual event. My photos below and throughout this post are from said event.
This year’s convention is hosted on Saturday August 20th from 10am to 5pm, at the Rocky Mountaineer Station. (Further details below)
The goal of MeowFest is to throw a memorable party to increase awareness of cat rescue and adoption while raising funds for hardworking feline organizations. And for 2022 said funds will be put towards helping the Langley Animal Protection Society.
Ticket holders will get the opportunity to meet famous cats, connecting with their owners and other cat minded people and enthusiasts. Cats such as BENBEN known as being the saddest cat on the internet. And PAW MCCARTNEY, a cat that actually likes dressing up and having his photo taken.
There will also be interactive educational presentations on the speaker stage. From a feral cat advocate to the co-creators of RYERCAT, the double-sided cat toothbrush. There will also be a Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist and Certified Cat Behaviour Consultant, that may give you insight on what it is that your cat actually thinking about. And even a Nutrition Research Scientist with over 10 years of experience in nutrition research, teaching us what goes into the food we buy for our feline friends.
Attendees can also expect human food and drinks options from local trucks including alcoholic beverages, vegan options, and even an advertised “surprise snack.”
But what I am most excited for is the market place, a shopping bazaar dedicated to all things feline. From toys to spoil your cat with to merch you can wear to showcase your love of cats. There will be 40 plus vendors to consider.
And what is a cat festival without actual cats. The Langley Animal Protection Society (L.A.P.S.) will be at MeowFest with kitties in the ACANA Adoptable Kitty Corner. Give these kitties your oohs and ahhs or a new home via adoption. Either way it is sure to be an adorable time.
And for those who just want to be a cat, live out your fantasy with larger-than-life-sized cat cut outs and a human sized cat tree you can play with/on.
And there will be plenty of other activities and ways to connect with other cat lovers in the community. Like participating in the scavenger hunt, getting a temporary cat tattoo, helping to paint a kitten mural, learning how to draw cats, and even speed dating for those who love cats and want to meet others who also love cats.
And for the first time in MeowFest history, you can also register to bring your cat to the convention!
