In my older age, I am still looking to have fun and drink with friends, but am always in search of more comfortable settings to do so.
This has brought me to Yuen Foot Spa’s downtown Coal Harbour location, where they have the only party room with a bar, of their entire chain.
In the back corridor of their marble and crystal decorated spa with water accents, is this private space. As I mentioned earlier, it is centred around a bar with counter, shelving, and sink. You need only to stock it yourself, so bringing your own wine, beer, or spirits. Just as easily, you can order food or drink to enjoy within this space.
It also includes its own decorative crystal showcase and private washroom for convenience.
With eight recliners circling a flatscreen television and fireplace, eight people can have their feet massaged simultaneously.
For the body massaging, there is a curtained off area with two massaging tablets available for tandem massages.
The minimum spend for this Prestige Vip Lounge is $10k. 10 guests at $100 per person. Ideal for celebratory occasions like
birthdays, bachelorettes, and/or work meetings/parties. My guest was certainly interested in the latter, acknowledging that he pays more, for something similar, else where.
As for our treatments today, it felt extra luxe in the expanse of the room for only two. We started with a foot soak in their reflexology buckets with bumpy bottoms and hot water. As we rested we were asked to take a seat on the foot rest, allowing the masseuses to provide an abbreviated back massage. Using the power of gravity and their upright force to grind elbows and forearms into neck and shoulders, loosening knots and relaxing the muscles for what is to come.
Mid way through, when the heat of the water had dulled, we were asked to turn around and take a seat on their plushy couches. The buckets were removed and the real massage began with our feet outstretched before us. This was the perfect position to watch the television and engage in casual conversation with your guest, as we did. Both were a great distraction to be able to endure the pain of the reflexology, with knuckles rotating into pain points of the sole. One leg at a time from knee down to each individual toe. The session ended with a hot towel wipe down and a refreshed feeling of the skin.
We were then given a pause before being asked to move ourselves into the private curtained area. Stripped down to our underwear, and asked to face down under the cover of thin sheets.
The massage is catered to you, with your preference of strength, targeting your greatest pain points. In my case shoulders, neck, forearm, and wrists today. I could have focused the entire 60 minute session on the above, but opted for the full relaxation of a full body massage instead. One that was so restful that my guest fell asleep and the room heard his shallow snores.
My masseuse was able to maintain my desired level of strength. I felt the pressure release, as she tirelessly worked on the crunchier segments. From shoulder and neck, to toes and thighs, this felt like a more rejuvenating treatment than a therapeutic one. I was rested, but not healed. It definitely felt in-line and befitting of such a playful arena.
Once again a great way to get some relaxation in, while having fun with friends. I can recommend.
