2026 Genesis GV60 Sport

This week I was trilled to be in the 2026 Genesis GV60 Sport. A stylish and modern vehicle that had strangers approaching me at the charging station, asking what I thought about it.

Overall, a very stylish looking vehicle with top-tier sound system. I especially liked how unique the headlights looked, like two parallel rolls of bedazzled crystals. They really elevated and made it a standout. They literally shone bright like a diamond, even by day.

The centre piece of the cabin was the partial crystal control dial and the cosmetic globe gearshift just under it. When the car is off and not in use the latter appears as an orb that lights up, and with a push of the start button this rotates into hiding to reveal the actual gear shift. This is a dial with ergonomic finger grooves for easy controlling. The opposite of the above happens when you turn the car off.

This is one of those fully electric vehicles that gives you a fully electric experience. Everything was electric from seat and wheel adjustment. There was even a one push button that allows you to fully recline the seat when parked, and another that gave you a minor massage.

What I originally thought was the massage function was actually their “smart posture” feature. This has your seat rolling, and your butt cheeks alternatively moving up and down. Its intention is to keep your hip joints moving so you see less fatigue. This is especially helpful while engaging in longer drives as it greatly lessens discomfort. You can even choose its intensity and the session length to your needs. This only made the dimpled leather seats more comfortable, along with the ability to adjust its firmness and how much it hugged you, bucket seat style.

Other unique features included the side mirror adjustment. Located on the door alongside its cosmetic quilted fabric, this had a unique look about it, as something that I have never seen before. It’s a dial, in symmetry with the two at the centre console. This round motif also carried on to the circular speakers and door handle.

The GV60 Sport has a smaller and more discreet infotainment screen that goes from dash to central console, with media and climate control discretely below it. I have always found Genesis to have one of the clearest cameras. The reverse one felt especially high definition, compared to similar vehicles in similar segments

I originally had a little difficultly locating the charging adapters needed to accommodate both level 1 and 2 charging stations. Thankfully with just under 500km of battery life it never got to the point that I was in dire need of a recharge. I forgot that this model comes with a front and back trunk. The former being smaller with just enough to fit the above mentioned plug-in, to keep them from rocking around in the back.

As for the drive, it felt a clunkier once I removed my foot from the gas pedal and the vehicle hesitated. Plus the lurch to stop and start had me feeling the weight of the sedan as it surrounded.

Little annoyances included the rapid fire left and right turn “ticks” and “toks” that went from annoying to aggressively grating. I also found the wheel to be especially meaty, which made it harder to get a grip around with my smaller hands. And the sight line of the rearview window was obstructed with rounded edges and black stickering that made visibility low.
