This week we were behind the wheel of the 2024 Mazda CX50 GT Turbo, a familiar compact SUV with plenty of sport.
On the exterior, ruggedly tough. Inside, a luxurious cabin. All coupled with agility and and power, from the optional 256-hp turbocharged four cylinder engine under the hood of this GT model.
The facade includes 20-inch alloy wheels with machined spokes and a polished finish, a piano black front grille, and front and rear lower bumper in black with silver accents. The exhaust outlets have an Increased diameter for a sportier appeal. And you even get a shiny Turbo badge on liftgate.
Notable differences for 2024 model includes improvements on suspension and steering, of which many of us would not notice. And now standard on all the CX50 trims are the 12-speaker Bose stereo and wireless smartphone charging pad.
The CX50 has plenty of safety features like the 360° View Monitor for visibility, Front and rear parking sensors, Traffic Sign Recognition System, Traffic Jam Assist, Smart City Brake Support Rear, Smart Brake Support Rear Crossing, and Emergency Lane Keeping with Blind Spot Assist.
It modern, tech friendly features for ease in use includes a power sliding panoramic moonroof with one-touch open/close, automatic power folding black exterior mirrors, driver’s seat memory position, and a frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror. It has heated seats for the rear row, not just the ones in the front cabin. But only the ventilated cooling seats for the driver and front passenger.
As for the way it handles the 2024 Mazda CX-50 GT is an easy and fun drive with paddle shifters. Like majority of their models zippy with the zoom, yet comfortable with supple leather, firm seats and great suspension. Various drive modes include sport, off-road, and towing. The latter with the ability to tow up to 3,500lbs.
In short, this is another built up and bulked up Mazda SUV to take from everyday driving to weekend escapes.
