This week I was in one of the sportiest, fully electric vehicles on the market; which is simultaneously one of the most ruggedly known muscle car brands in history. This is the 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E Premium, a fun ride and one I wanted to be seen in.
I just couldn’t figure out the colour of the paint job. I saw a femme fatale, electric magenta, but others noted it was a cherry red. Either way the hue was as bold and fierce as the vehicle.
The Mach-E is so sturdy that you do not feel like you are picking up any speed when accelerating. It is also hard to track, considering the numbers are not broadcasted onto the windshield, but only visible numerically, hidden behind the wheel on the dash. With so much power, the sports car did not struggle on an incline, or have to try harder to pick up any speed. I caught myself going far faster than intended, a definite hazard to watch out for.
The vehicle is stylish with his push button door release, adding to its overall sleek and sporty body work. You can lock the car by pressing the same button on the outside, so long as you have the key fob in your possession. However, the lock does not sound with a loud beep, so I was constantly double checking that the car was indeed secure.
Inside, the giant iPod shaped infotainment system feels new age and yet familiar for iPhone users, such as myself.
I liked the tiered centre console with wireless charging at the forefront and cupholders just behind it. On the second tier is the parking, emergency, brake and hazard light button. This is along with a bin for smalls at the very top and a deep rubbery pocket that allows your phone to stand upright.
The armrest could have been further extended, to better support the forearm. And I didn’t like that the bin below it was open and not fully concealed for privacy and safer storage of goods.
The 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E is the first fully electric vehicle that I have test driven, that charges itself and gives power back when coasting and applying the brakes. I only got trickles in charging, but it is still worth mentioning. That and the magnetic covering for the charger port. I liked its sophistication compared to the rubber string and the cover left dangling of other EV brands.
In short, the mustang name continues to impress, and I was sad to let this one go at the end of the week.
