Bae Side False Creek, pop-up

For those who have never visited, this one of the city’s most coveted patios overlooking False Creek.

Once home to Mahony’s Tavern at Stamps Landing, the entire property is getting an overhaul, starting with the patio, just in time for summer. This is the Bae Side pop-up that will operate on said patio throughout the summer, before operations move inside the space for the fall/winter season. This seasonal move will then include a fresh new look and feel for the interior with food and drink menu to match.

However, the changes don’t stop there, late September 2026, expect the space to undergo a massive renovation that will lead to the launch of a brand-new restaurant called Mishree on the Water. Serving elevated Indian cuisine, like its sister location in Ontario, Mishree is expected to officially open in spring of 2027.

That’s all in the future, but what you can expect from then now is a bohemian themed, summer centric experience decorated with wicker, faux flowers, and greenery over looking the water’s edge, Vancouver skyline, and North Shore mountains.

The menu is described as marrying “West Coast ingredients and inspiration from Indian, Pan-Asian, Mexican, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cultures and cuisines”. However, based on the sample bites we were given today, as guests on their opening launch, it felt more leaned towards Indian cuisine with the likes of salmon tikka, uncomfortably spicy momos (Indian styled dumplings), and naan bites. All of which are lesser seen Indian offerings, on other international menus.

The rest of the menu resembles casual bar bites like bruschetta, avocado cheese toast, and generic sushi. I actually liked the latter, having their spicy tuna and avocado rolls with the shrimp tempura that was also passed around.

There were small bites being offered with tooth picks if you choose to stay seated, and a table display of others if you wanted the buffet experience. Both of which are nice to have during a mingling party such as this, but honestly hard to use as a gauge of their food. Everything was made before hand and kept warm under drying heat lamps or was seen sweeting under the sun.

A better judge of the experience is their cocktail program which was stirred and shaken to order. Today’s offerings were a mix of classic cocktails like highballs and spritzes, intermingled with some creative concoctions. All of which on the sweeter and lighter side, befitting of such a tropical-leaning environment.

The crowd pleaser and the most iconic was their Oh My Coco, covered in candied coconut, the glass was a head turner. Inside, was a mix of white rum, coconut malibu, coconut, and lemon.

Bae is definitely a destination worth driving out to for the vibes, experience, and photo ops. A one of a kind view and something beautiful to behold. I would like to return for a truer experience, to be better able to relax, enjoy, and best report on an actual visit.
