This weekend we were in Chilliwack for a staycation, which coincided with their annual Dine Our Chilliwack. This is a festival a food that encourages locals and visitors alike to dine in at local hot spots, each offing their own promotion or discounts meant to entice.
Dine Chilliwack 2026 runs from February 17 to March 1, 2026 and it brought us to Johnny’s Jukebox tonight. This is a 50’s style retro diner bathed in soft baby pinks and blues. The room centred around an actual working jukebox, that you could not touch, nor choose your favourite tune to play.

The walls were decorated with movie posters and signed photos of era specific celebrities. I recognized Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, Buddy Holly, and the cast of Greese.
I didn’t notice their cocktail list so started our visit with wine. Here for the duration of Dine Out, they are offering 25% off the entire menu which well covers tax and tip.
The Frizzante Siegerrebe was more of a summer sipper high in acid and citrus notes, and finished with soft stone fruits in a bubbly bouquet. This was better on its own than with our plates before.

We got an order of their wings to share, available saucy or dry, depending on flavour. The Dill Pickle was a dry wing with a light coating of powdered pickle flavouring. It reminded me of shakers that you can get over your movie popcorn. We loved its even coating over the crispy wings, and ate them all.

After hearing that today’s soup was a tomato I immediately paired it with an order of their Triple Grilled Cheese. This is toasted sourdough bread layered with Swiss cheese, Monterey Jack, and cheddar. It is grilled until the bread is crispy and the cheese stringy. There is the option to add on pulled pork or bacon, but I loved this the way it was. This was everything I wanted dipped into my favourite type of soup for sauce. No complaints.

And as nostalgic as my meal was for me, my guest loved her childhood pick. She got a slice of their house made meatloaf served with whipped mashed potatoes, market vegetable, and a side of gravy. This was homey and incredibly comforting, as she had intended. The gravy was mushroom and I could have sworn I got a hint of sweet cranberry from this.
All this with drinks came up a little over $70 with the applied discount. I thought this an amazing deal and reason to visit. If it wasn’t past last call and we weren’t the only ones left in the diner as the lone server and chef began cleaning up, we probably would have ordered more food, if not another round of wings.
