Milk Bar x Taco Bell Birthday Cake Churros

I saw @itsjosheats post about this, so drove out to Coquitlam to try it for myself. I love a good legacy brand collab and anything limited edition.

According to Josh’s IG reel the rest of Canada has received this Milk Bar x Taco Bell Birthday Cake churro collaboration earlier in the month, but BC is slow to the starting line. This should now be available at any Taco Bell location. I went to the one he did at Coquitlam Pine Tree, to ensure it would be there. This is a split Taco Bell and KFC in one.

There are no posters of this limited time only dessert stick on the exterior, so you need to already know about it to go in for it. They are also not televised on the overhead menu ordering screens. Only a lone sign on the counter, by one of the cash registers lets you know you are at the right place.

The fried to order churro sticks are served in their own branded box. A pink, purple, and white motif that matches the Taco Bell logo. It precisely houses two sticks.

Be warned this is a messy treat. Each churro is drenched in pink sprinkles with bits of purple, they shake off and end up everywhere like glitter. Oily to grip, with a crispy exterior, indicative of a churro. The inside is a cakey filling and flavour that is classic Milk Bar, for those who are unfamiliar with the brand. So basically this is a cake stuffed churro stick with a creamy icing centre. The sprinkles add whimsy and an additional crunch. Surprisingly, all together this is not overly sweet. I have never had anything like this, and can whole heartly recommended it.

Seeing as I was already here, I decided to get a two hard taco combo in beef, with fries and a fountain drink. This Tex-Mex fast food chain is nostalgic for me, and I do tend to crave it when I see it.

For some reason I thought I would be getting Mexi-fries, but instead got KFC fries, dusted in their seasoning mix and served in their branded paper sleeve. These are not close to my favourite fast food fry, nor were they all that complementary to my taco combo.

I don’t remember the taco shells being this bland; and sadly, by the time I got to them, they were cold and slightly stale. The filling was as sparse as I remembered it, but I recall the beef being zestier, at least there was plenty of sour cream for tang.

In short, the Milk Bar x Taco Bell collab is worth travelling for. A great team up that certainly brought me to them, and had me spending more than anticipated.
