Mr. A’s Patio Restaurant

Looking for an easy option for brunch/lunch/dinner in Langley? Then perhaps look to this buffet, with enough options to satisfy the pickiest diners, by giving them ample choice.

No one feels obliged to not take the last of anything, everyone can have as much of whatever they want. And no one is sheepish about over eating, because the goal of a buffet is to always eat enough to make it your monies worth. Although in reality you almost never do, and you are simply paying extra to have dinner with as many options as possible. The cost is tied to the need to keep everything in stock for everyone.

Located in Newlands golf course this is one of those places that more people come to for the club house than the golf.

At A’s they use their banquet style space and seating to host their buffet across several rooms. A great destination for larger parties and celebrations, we were here for a birthday ourselves.

Once settled and given the lay of the land, you are left to your own devices. A visit to the all-you-can-eat trays and bins at your own self-prescribed leisure. Servers walk the room offering drinks. As this was brunch, a mimosa seemed like the best choice. Sparkling white wine and orange juice, heavy on the younger white. Three was a good number.

The buffet itself is divided by breakfast or lunch. The breakfast aisles had a waffle station where you can custom top your own pressed waffle with the likes of whipped cream, canned peaches, and fresh berries.

At the omelet bar they were flipping custom omelettes pan fried to order with selected toppings like ham, peppers, tomatoes, and onions.

The breakfast line up of help yourself trays included bacon, sausage, and herbed potatoes. At the cold appetizer table you found deviled eggs, pasta salad, chilled baby corn, and fixings for a salad. For lunch there was a heartier selection that included lemon chicken, marinara penne, curly fries, crispy fried shrimp, fried rice, and creamed salmon.

And what buffet is complete without a carving station. Here, it was fatty or lean roast beef self dressed in a jus, horseradish, and/or stony mustard.

And dessert was a section all its own, 2 continuous tables worth. I just wish I knew what it was I was selecting. Unlisted and unlabelled slices of cake, they all looked the same, yet different. Fruit tarts, cookies, strudel, pie, and flan to name a few.

In short, this satisfies my needs when I come looking for a buffet. Not the best of anything, but plenty of everything. It is exactly as I expected and wanted it to be. I ended at one full plate of savoury, one half of sweet, and eating all I could.
