Today we were in White Rock for the morning and decided to round out our day with a last stop visit to Bánh Mì Très Bon’s, second location, in the heart of downtown White Rock.
Seeing as the weather is warmer and patio season is fast encroaching we decided to park ourselves on theirs.
Their happy hour runs daily from 3-5pm and offers a coincide menu card of specials. They offer drink and snack combos for either $12, $16, or $19. Which aren’t prices you would normally see downtown Vancouver.
Each price point represents a tier. The first is $6 appetizers paired with either house beer or wine for a total of $12.
Dishes classifies as appetizers include either steamed or crispy wontons, one tiger prawn salad roll, or a mini banh mi bun in either chicken or pork.
From this category we had their one crispy pork spring roll, fried twice for an extra textured and crunchy coating.
The next tier are bites for $9 each or $16 total with a cold beer, or for $3 more you can have it with a cocktail or your choice. In this category the bites were larger portions with enough food to be shared. Although here you have less options to choose from. We would try all three available.

The meat skewers are available in your choice or either pork, chicken, or beef. Grilled heavily for darkened crispy edges, I found the beef we ordered a little rough. The side of sweeter peanut dip it comes with does help to soften this, although only if you can take its spice.
I recommend the garlic wings as a solid choice that gives you 5 flavourful wings and drumlets. It comes with a sweet and sour dipping sauce, which it honestly doesn’t need.

For the best value, the pork meat ball banh mi is the one to go for. Here you get a full sized sandwich, stuffed with plenty of creamy mayo, minced meat with brightening julienned vegetables. No complaints on this one.
For cocktails your options include a coffee pick me up, smokey high ball, fruity sweet number, a savoury caesar, and a party margarita. I thought this a great variety to be able to appeal to all palates.

We tried the Caesar with Vodka, Clamato juice, and a blend of zesty spices. Which I found on the saltier side and could have used more seasoning spices. They made this take on an espresso martini theirs by using French coffee and naming it the Bonsoir Saigon with fresh black coffee, Barista Liqueur, Disaranno, and Frangelico. And the colour of the Sunset delivered on its name with Red Passion, Dry Gin, Orange soda, and passion fruit syrup. This was a sweet cocktail that leaned towards tropical and patio perfect.
In short, if looking for a great spot to grab a bite at during happy hour, Bánh Mì Très Bon combines their traditional Vietnamese dishes with affordable everyday dining prices.
