Weekend with the 2025 Nissan Rogue Platinum

This weekend we had the luxury model of the 2025 Nissan Rogue Platinum at our disposal. A spacious SUV that fits 5 properly and comfortable, where other models would try to squeeze in another row of seats with no leg room.

Each seat is a quilted in a creamy butterscotch brown leather. Plush with comfort and wide enough for the average adult. You are able to sprawl out, extending your legs and splaying your shoulders as you enjoy the view from some of the largest windows on any vehicle we have test driven. This includes the moon roof above and the half panel that actually rolls back. And if the view or light becomes too much you can simply shield yourself with the sun shade built into the back passenger two doors.

As the premium model, the Rogue has the connivence of Head-Up Display, posting speed and driving memos on to the front driver’s glass and eliminating the need to look down at the dash, and possibly distracting the driver from on-coming traffic. For easy storing and hauling you can fold the rear seats with a push of a remote button and the liftgate activates with motion. All with ease in mind.

The Bose Premium Audio System is equipped with 10 speakers including dual-driver woofer for excellent surround sound quality with easy Bluetooth or plug-in connection.

For those looking to buy there are a slew of add-ons to help customize your Rogue to better fit your lifestyle. Whether that is the weekend warrior with molded all season floor mats, seat covers with storage, roof rail cross bars, and ones to attach your bike. Or the family bus with the priority of safety features like impact sensors and premium engine heater; and even the ability to equip the Rogue with branded first aid and emergency road kits.

We appreciated the comfort our whip of the week provided with wide arm rest, elevated centre console and adequate binning for cups purses, and our bags.

Despite the size and would be weight, there was lots of push power from the engine. So much so that it had me lurching back when accelerating, and double checking to see if the model wasn’t electric or at least partially hybrid.

And with several drive modes at the turn of the dial, including weather and terrain considerations as well as sports and eco, your drive is what you make it.

We would pack our Saturday with activities, starting with a late lunch at Zaatar W Zeit in downtown Vancouver. They are a quick and healthy chain of Lebanese eateries featuring traditional seasonings and ingredients in modern offerings. Flat breads with spreads, fresh salads, warming skillets, an all day breakfast menu, a large collection of burritos, and plenty of grab and go solutions.

We would snack on some manousheh, a traditional Lebanese savoury pie that more closely resembles flatbread, that is typically eaten while travelling. Paired with a cup of Turkish coffee served in a traditional vessels.

Then grab a bunch of their pre-made salads, cup desserts, and a few of their wraps to take home and enjoy as easy and ready in the fridge meals for the upcoming week. More about everything we had and how it tasted to come in its own post.

It was trek trying to locate our parked Nissan, the journey had us walking through luxury downtown department store Holt Renfrew, where we took in their seasonal Lunar New Year, year of the snake activations.

They had a gentleman building a giant yellow block with a red snake on it out of Lego; and a table of snakes, dragons, and lantern Jelly Cat plushies that were thematic to the season.

There was also a station where you could write down your new year’s wish on a snake printed hang card and attach it onto a fake cherry blossom tree. I did just that wishing for a prosperous and success in schooling, followed by a lustrous new career following it. Chinese New Year is the one holiday that allows you to be greedy and ask for wealth and riches.

We would spend a great deal of time being lost and trying to find how to get to where we parked underground. So that by the time we were reunited with the Rogue the sun was due to set and we decided to stop at Queen Elizabeth Park to catch it, which was also on route to our next destination. There we enjoyed the golden sun and the unique ripples of the white fluffy clouds in the blue sky.

After, we made our appointment for a special Lunar New Year tasting at BC Liquor Store’s flagship location on Cambie and 39th. Despite it not being their largest footprint it is the only one with a full tasting room in the back.

Tonight, we were two of a handful invited for a unique food and drink pairing experience hosted by BCL. The hour long event brought together classic Chinese flavours prepared with modern approaches together with various spirits both on sale and that can been seen during the Lunar New Year season. Red wine, a light lager, a bespoke tangerine cocktail, and Chinese distilled Baiju. For those unfamiliar, the latter most is a colourless distilled liquid known for its higher alcohol percentage.

We would enjoy snakey photo ops, a personalized snake and new year themed engraved glass set, light bites, heavier drinks, and joyful conversion. More on this experience in its own post.

Then it was home for the rest of the day to play games and wind down for the evening.
