50 Best Bars: Disco Brunch at Mount Pleasant Vintage

After a whiskey-fuelled night at Mount Pleasant Vintage I returned the next day for their subsequent event. Once again, in the “spirit” (intentional pun) of North America’s 50 best bars, newly minted No. 91 was hosting a Disco Brunch with live DJ, dancing, and plenty of glitter and metallics.

This was sponsored by Lucano Amaro and Altamura Distilleries with two visiting bartenders from Miami and Mexico. The two of them, alongside Mount Pleasant Vintage’s house bartender had prepared 2 unique cocktails each, crafted for and poured only today between 11am and 2pm. The bar’s typical brunch menu was also available, for those who wanted food with their drinks.

From Mexico, Hanky Panky’s Gina Barbachano was wowing guests with both her cocktail shaking skills and her mixology. During the writing of this post Hanky Pank ranked No. 35 on the list of North America’s 50 Best Bars 2025.

The Italodisco cocktail matched both the theme and the concept. Served with a disco ball crowned spiral straw and made with coffee for your morning pick me up. Amaro Lucano, Mancino Vermouth Ambrato, Fig, Coffee, and Cacao Soda. Despite the presence of the fig, this wasn’t sweet or juicy and was mostly a fizzy coffee soda.

Her second cocktail was the Sakura Blossom, named after the use of Mancino Vermouth Sakura alongside Mancino Vermouth Secco, and Elderflower. I didn’t get any floral notes, let alone cherry blossom, but didn’t mind as this reminded me of a clarified lemonade and I enjoyed it for what it was. Not to mention it went well with the brunch concept.

Our other visiting bartender was Olivera Marjanovic from Cote Mariano. Cote Miami isn’t ranked on the 50 Best Bars list, but it is a Michelin-starred and James Beard Award-nominated Korean Steakhouse.

They too had a cocktail made featuring Mancino Vermouth Sakura, alongside Altamura Distilleries Vodka, Lemon, and Bitters. This one however did deliver on its floral-forward name. The Blossom Highball was the epitome of a cherry blossom. It had the same colour and even had a decorative rice paper Sakura as garnish, gently resting on a towering ice cube. The drink itself was a pale pink that simmered with ribbons of edible iridescent glitter. As for the flavour, it was delicate with saline florals and was what I imagined eating a flower petal would be. This was a very lovely cocktail, ideal for any high tea service.

Their second cocktail was named “Heat” and it went in the opposite direction with Altamura Distilleries Vodka, Passion Fruit Liqueur, Chili, Lime, and Coffee
Citrus cocktail. This was their coffee offering and the one I preferred more between the two. This was an even balance of the boldness of coffee, the sweetness and citrus of Passionfruit, and a warming burn that slightly tickled the back of your throat. I thought it well crafted.

In conclusion, this was a great showing and a great way to feel like you have travelled without leaving Mount Pleasant.
