Nancy Go Yaya Dessert Popup

I appreciate a good popup, so as a newly minted fan of The Dessert Club, I made my way to Nancy YaYa’s Singaporean eating house, to support and try their latest collaboration. Three pastry chefs under one roof, for one night, offering customers 4 plated desserts, 3 pints of ice cream, 1 box of cookies, and a collection of tea and chocolates to take away.

The following is what I had as I dined on desserts for dinner.

The egg nog soft serve was a light swirl of sweetness, you got the familiar flavours of egg nog topped with some caramel chips for crunch; all served in a festive cup.

The key lime pie was a classic. A terrific palate refresher with the zing of fresh lime and cooling cream, all nestled above a butter crust.

The Chocolate mint ice box cake had a similar effect, a nice way to end a meal with some freshness, but definitely on the richer side. Light cream sandwiching layers of chewy cake. More cream than cake.

And the Almond-cherry rocher was a showstopper. A round dome that you cracked onto and discover a caramel, cream, and cherry filling; with additional tart cherries to pick at on the side.

The box of cookies including a half a dozen varieties at 2 of each.

The caramel and spices “celebration cookie” was a fun one. A thin wafer engulfed by golden chocolate. It snapped crispy and finished melty.

The hazelnut gianduja cookie had whole rounds of hazelnut, and despite the large chunks of chocolate it wasn’t too sweet.

The ginger molasses cookie was a soft and chewy gingerbread.

The candy cane white chocolate macadamia cookie ate like Christmas. Sweet and minty with a good balance between the two.

The Mandarin tonka shortbread was very subtle. It isn’t as buttery as your typical shortbread. But rather one that would pair well with a cup of tea and a hint of orange.

The ruby, almond, and fresh mint cookie was my favourite. An interesting assembly that speckled the cookie rainbow, and gave a different flavour profile bite by bite.

I also picked up a box of Tonka chocolates that’s was elegantly packaged and ready for gifting. On top of including winter ready flavours like hot chocolate and egg nog.

In short the nature of this limited release pop up made it all the more enjoyable. Special morsels made for a special occasion. I would always recommend taking the time to support such affairs. And look forward to the next one I catch wind of.
