Weekend with the 2025 Hyundai Tucson XRT

This weekend we were dealing with a smogsbaord of weather conditions, overlapping with clear skies and ice on the road. Luckily we had the rugged durability of the 2025 Hyundai Tucson XRT to keep us safe in these slick conditions.

My partner enjoys the Hyundai’s circular body kits that makes the vehicle appear wider. Sadly, we didn’t get to enjoy the all black exterior too much, as it caught a lot of the salt on the roads. However, inside was a chic uniform black to match the all black facade. Black quality leather with black stitching, black plastics across the dash, and a black wrap around touch screen infotainment system.

The overall appeal is modern. Simple in design with a slim one vent for air flow. A decluttered centre console with wide arm rest, deep cup holders, and an easy to drop and charge wireless charging mat. This keeps your photo visible and within reach. I just would have liked a cover or lid to slide over it all, to conceal if desired.

Underneath it is a grippy rubber tray for additional compartmenting. Much like above the indented shelf above the glove compartment with its own traction mat tray for loose storage.

The seats are wide and comfortable, the headrest a soft pillowy support. There is electric seat adjustment for the driver, but a pull and drag release for the passenger. The 2024 Tucson has a smaller second row, advertised for three, but best for two so that your back seat passengers can have some actual leg room. And despite not being from a major audio manufacturer, the speakers are of sound quality.

Overall, this is not meant to be a luxury vehicle, yet it has enough functionality and furnishings to give you a more refined feel, certainly better than other vehicles competing in its segment.

As for the way it handles, the gear shift is located on the side of the wheel, making it an easy feel and turn switch. Like the wheel it glides and offers smooth functioning without any resistance. Although we didn’t have to use it there are three terrain modes for safe driving in the elements: snow, mud, and sand. And the seat belt are heavier and weighted to keep you secure, without being constructive.

The 2025 Hyundai Tucson also has great gas mileage, 500km from the tank with a little less than half full to end our regular work week of commuting and weekend of adventures.

On satuday we braved a quick to change flurry of fog, snow, and rain to travel to Richmond for some warming Sichuan cuisine. Best Fortune has extended their Dine Out menu for a week longer. $20 for 3 courses during lunch and $28 for 3 during dinner. Each with the ability to pick what peaks your interest and to pair it all some Haywire wine. Full review of meal to come in its own post.

Sadly we forgot to stay for the third and final course of dessert, and found ourselves craving something sweet to help wash the bold flavours from our palate. Therefore stopped at the closest McDonald’s drive through for some soft serve. Oddly it was not as we remembered and the cream hardly tasted like vanilla or even dairy. Nonetheless it satisfied enough.

Sunday February 9th is National Pizza Day and to celebrate we ate pizza all day starting with pizza pockets for breakfast.

We then went out to get something more gourmet from Emilio Finatti pizzeria in Port Moody. They have four locations, two of which are participating in Taste of Tri-cities. This is Port Moody, Coquitlam, and Port-Coquitlam’s verison of Dine Out, with discounted specialty menua available between February 15 to March 15th, 2025.

This would be my first time taking part in the food festival, and I was eager to learn more about many of the participating restaurants that I otherwise would not have had heard of.

Emilio’s are best noted for their use of honey butter in all their pizza crusts and their expansive collection of pizza flavours that can also be made into calzones. We would grab a few boxes to go for lunch and dinner. To be able to eat as we stayed home and played video games. More on the festival and our visit to Emilio’s in a separate post to come.
